WHAT IS SHIATSU
Shiatsu is an Eastern form of manual therapy, originating from Japan. Literally, shiatsu means ‘pressure with the fingers’.
A hallmark of Shiatsu is its holistic approach. The therapy focuses on restoring balance between body and mind and strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
In our body the life energy flows through a network of energy channels. Each of these energy pathways (called meridians) is connected to an organ and/or a bodily function. The treatment affects the whole person – on a physical, mental, emotional and energetic level.
Shiatsu is used as a treatment for specific complaints, to prevent complaints, and as relaxation.
Shiatsu is suitable for various complaints and symptoms, such as:
- Fatigue
- Stress or burnout
- Insomnia
- Concentration problems
- Headache
- Digestive complaints
- Neck, shoulder and back pain
- Chronic pain
- Joint problems, stiffness
- Unexplained complaints
- Depression and anxiety
